The so called “Hanami” in Madrid started a few days ago, and although it is still some time to see the almond trees in full bloom, it is already possible to enjoy this spring scene that tinges pink and white the famous Quinta de los Molinos park.

This year 2024 has brought radical changes in temperature, with sunny days and high temperatures that have caused an advance in the flowering of the almond trees this season.

It is very difficult to know the exact date when this spectacle will occur, as it depends a lot on weather conditions, since flowering occurs at certain temperatures and conditions, but this year it has been brought forward due to the high temperatures recorded in January.

According to the State Agency of Meteorology (Aemet) the first blossoms of the almond trees have emerged several days in advance of February 7, the average date of the beginning of flowering, similar to what happened in 2023, when flowering was five to six days earlier.
